Hotdog packaging & currywurst trays

Hot dogs have been a popular snack since the middle of the 19th century. The hot boiled sausage in a roll is said to have been invented by the Coburg butcher Johann Georg Hehner. A few years later, Charles Feltman from Hanover immigrated to the USA and sold the snack in its current form at a traveling snack stand. The typical feature of the hot dog is that the sausage has to be warm in a soft wheat roll and is served with various sauces or fried onions and coleslaw. Packers have put a lot of thought into ensuring that the long roll remains spill-free.

The history of the hot dog

The popular "hot dogs" have their origins in Frankfurt. The butcher Johann Georg Hehner is said to have invented the forerunner of the hot dog back in 1487. However, the hot dog as we know it today is said to have been created by the German immigrant Charles Feltman in 1867.

Charles Feltman emigrated to the USA in 1856 and began selling his hot dogs on the street in Brooklyn using a specially made handcart with a hotplate. In the first year, he sold over 4,000 hot dogs. After 4 years, he opened the stationary restaurant "Feltman Restaurant and Beer Garden" due to its success. Exactly 30 years later, the restaurant was expanded and renamed "Feltman's German Gardens". At that time, around 1,200 staff were employed in all branches

What is the best way to serve a hot dog?

In a paper hot dog bag, the long hot dogs, whose name probably goes back to the dachshund dog popular with German immigrants with its elongated rump, can be simply handed to the customer in style and without spillage. The paper hot dog bags are available in two versions - one with the imprint "Fresh & Tasty" and one with the imprint "Hot Dog". Our range also includes the more stable hot dog trays with both prints.

Different materials ensure safety

The hot dog packaging we offer is made entirely of chromo board or parchment substitute paper and has very good strength properties. In the production of chromo board, the uneven and rough surface of the board is treated with a mixture of binders and pigments, which makes this type of paper easy to print on. Parchment substitute paper has a high grease density and wet strength properties. It is approved for food contact in accordance with EC regulations and is therefore food-safe. It is also environmentally friendly, as it is fully recyclable and printed with mineral oil-free inks.

Accompanying packaging products

If you are serving chips or chicken nuggets with your hot dog, we recommend our various snack and chip trays. These are also made from environmentally friendly, sturdy cardboard that is 100% recyclable. Our stainless steel snack wave holder is also a stylish addition to the snack counter. In no time at all, you can place hot dogs, kebabs or baguettes here in a fan shape and concentrate fully on the payment process at the serving counter.

Individually printed hot dog packaging

As an alternative to the neutrally printed hot dog packaging, you can also have your self-designed hot dog packaging produced from a minimum quantity of 15,000 units. Increase the recognition value of your products and use the packaging as an advertising medium!
